Camponotus chromaiodes, or the rusty carpenter ant, is a large ant found across much of the Eastern United States. They are polymorphic, producing a large soldier caste as well as smaller nurse workers. These ants often nest in rotting logs, with some chambers extending into the soil.
They prefer low humidity from 30-50%, and slightly higher temperatures at 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit. It's a fast growing Carpenter ant species with workers ranging from 5-16 mm and queens reaching 18mm.
